Thursday morning in San Francisco started early and cold. We had arranged to take a tour of San Francisco on a double decker bus. We didn't plan on the fog, which made for a VERY COLD, and wet tour of the city. It was fun to see what sites we could though.
After the tour of San Francisco we walked to Ghirardelli Square to see the sites and buy some chocolate. The hot chocolate at the Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Caffe was SO VERY GOOD! We spent the rest of the afternoon walking through Fisherman's Wharf and then back to our hotel room to rest.
In the evening we rode on one of the historic cable cars and took the Powell/Hyde Line from Fisherman's Wharf to Market Street. It was quite the experience riding the cable car and seeing all the work that goes into driving and maneuvering it. We stopped at the top of Lombard Street (America's crookedest street), but we weren't able to see much of it from the cable car. I loved seeing some of the older homes and architecture in the city as we rode the cable car. Once we were on Market Street, we walked from the trolley car to the Orpheum Theater to see the play Wicked. The play was good, and for the most part I really enjoyed it. However, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't been so tired. All in all though it was a great day and one very memorable trip!

The Palace of Fine Arts. Unfortunately you can't see the dome very well because of the fog.

Another view of the Palace of Fine Arts.

Going across The Golden Gate Bridge in the fog.

Looking back towards what should have been a view of The Golden Gate Bridge, but we can't see it because of the blasted fog!

Cool building in Golden Gate Park.

Alamo Square, and the famous Victorian homes, called the painted ladies because they are painted in three or more colors that embellish or enhance their architectural details.

More details of the "painted ladies". (Any one of them would be my dream home, if only I had 2.6 million, asking price for one of the homes around the corner.)

The gate to Chinatown.

Inside Ghirardelli Square, and the chocolate making process.

Some very happy customers of the Ghirardelli store!

I'm glad I'm not driving these streets!

Ghirardelli Square.

Preparing to ride the cable car to the Orpheum Theatre to see Wicked.

The closest we got to Lombard St.

Going up, up, up the hills of San Francisco.

It got more foggy the higher we went.

I love the architecture of some of the buildings in San Francisco. Then again, I'm a sucker for old buildings and homes from the Victorian era.

Going down the hill...

Union Square, what a busy place!

The Orpheum Theatre, sorry no photography allowed inside.
