Afton, Wyoming, July 5th to July 9th

Since this was our “relaxing” vacation, we had some time to kill looking around Star Valley and Afton. Afton is a cute little town, although much bigger than some of the other towns in the valley like Smoot and Grover.

We found an old LDS meeting house, so of course I had to take pictures.

We also found that they had these cute benches along Main Street that look like two cowboys holding the bench.

Afton is famous for their elk horn arch that spans Highway 89 (the heart of downtown Afton).

We found a monument to Archibald Gardner, which surprised me, since I thought his mill was in West Jordan, Utah (Gardner Village). However, I learned that he helped establish many mills throughout the west.

Also, I learned that Afton is the home of Rulon Gardner . (hmmm, I wonder if he is any relation to Archibald Gardner), 2001 World Champion, Athens, Greece. They have a sign in front of his home. I also noticed across the street from his home is a Lifetime Fitness, a big difference from the one in South Jordan, Utah that my brother likes to go to.

I also took a few pictures of things that made me chuckle. There is a star on the mountain, for Star Valley. The red house alone on top of a hill. Also, I noticed that the pine trees like to grow on the north side of the mountains, very few are ever on the south side.
