Another new adventure... This summer we decided to attend the Castle Valley Pageant, and took Karlee with us. It was great, and the pageant has some very touching scenes. I think we all had a great time, and it wasn't as hot as I thought it would be (always nice).
The Castle Valley Pageant portrays pioneers who were called by Brigham Young in 1877 to leave their homes in Sanpete County (Manti area), to colonize the Castle Valley. It also portrays the settlers as they teach an American Indian family about the Book of Mormon.
The first performance of the Castle Valley Pageant occurred on 11 and 12 August 1978. Since then it has grown from a small, simple production into a spectacular event, performed in an outdoor amphitheater with seating for 4,000.
There is also a Pioneer Village, presented before the pageant begins, on the set. In the village you can learn about such things blacksmithing, weaving, and spinning.

View of the Castle Valley from the parking lot.

Karlee helping to make home-made ice cream.

Watching the spinning demonstration.

The story of the Prairie Diamond.

Karlee and her prairie diamond.

The cow we all had a chance to milk.

My mom milking the cow. I think she was the only one out of the three of us, that wasn't a little weird about milking the cow. By the way, thanks to Sue Jones for her encouragement while we milked the cow.

Cute little boys who were doing a lassoing demonstration. They were very good! Karlee wanted to try, but after watching another little girl get caught in her own rope, she decided she would rather just watch.

Looking down into the parking lot, from the Pioneer Village, and area where the pageant is performed. We were lucky, and only four cars deep in the parking, so we didn't have to wait to long to get out.
